Gabriel Willem

Hey! I’m Gabriel Willem and I’m an American actor, translator, and activist based in London.

Before relocating, I received my MFA in Acting from Bristol Old Vic Theatre School. I’m originally from Indianapolis, Indiana, where I started my creative career as a dancer for 13 years. I started on stage in my breakout role of Molly in Annie: The Musical, which jumpstarted my love of the stage. Before Bristol Old Vic, I trained at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign with a BFA in Acting and BA in Spanish with a Certificate in Translation Studies (a mouthful, I know). I’m passionate about telling stories of those who historically haven’t been represented on stage or screen.

I’m a proud queer trans man and plan to use my life and career as advocacy in itself. I didn’t grow up seeing many trans people on TV and I hope to be that person for young trans kids - there’s nothing more fulfilling than hearing I inspired a young queer person.

I’m an avid book lover, in fact I am trying to read 100 books in a year. My favorite books include: A Little Life by Hanya Yanagihara, Less by Patrick Sean Greer, and The Goldfinch by Donna Tartt. I am a huge foreign language and linguistics nerd, I drink at least 2 cups of coffee a day, and I love taking care of my two-year-old kitten, Gertie.
