At the University of Illinois I received my undergraduate certificate in Translation Studies with a focus on literary translation. My capstone project was called Otros problemas de humanidad: Translating Uruguayan Theater and was advised by Dr. Joyce Tolliver and Dr. Roman Ivashkiv.
In my translation work as a native English speaker, I am passionate about translating stories into English that are frequently forgotten. This largely includes South American theatre, but I also love poetry (from Chile and Argentina specifically). I studied and lived in Viña del Mar, Chile, and Granada, Spain, both places which have greatly influenced my love for the history of Spanish-speaking countries and their cultures.
I began learning Spanish at age 6 in school and have been in Spanish classes ever since. In high school, I studied abroad for the first time and took my Higher Level International Baccalaureate exam in Spanish. At university, I came into my first year taking third-year level Spanish courses, which led me into the world of translation.
While my specialty is literary translation, I have experience with CAT tools under Dr. Kara Warburton, specifically SDL Trados and TermWeb, and extensive translation theory knowledge from Dr. Robert Jenkins.
